axle sliders

Recommended Posts

I dont know, maybe not suspect. The aluminim nut on the rear axle just had me a little concerned. Ill just drill them though.

Making my own has also crossed my mind. Doesnt seem like there is much to it. Johnu, what did you use for the actual slider part? Any advice or parts list you wanted to share would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nat,

I have access to a machine shop at work so I just ordered some 1 1/2" round Delrin (also through work) and knocked them up on the lathe. I made them about 2" long as I recall with chamfered ends. I have tested all four of them and they worked perfectly!

This thread reminds me...

What do you guys w/ late model KTMs use to drive out your front axle?

It has such a thin wall it seems the threads could be easily buggered.

I turned an aluminum slug that fits inside the ID w/ a shoulder that pushes on the wall when smacked w/ a hammer.

Has anybody found a better solution? (Or even thought it was a problem?)

I also pull it out with my fingers. But first I leave the nut on just a few threads and lightly tap it with a mallet just to get it moving.
