I removed the cam chain tensioner

Recommended Posts

I removed the cam chain tensioner by removing hte two bolts and now it seems hard to push back in. Is there a particualr way to install that thing back in? I know, I am stupid and should not have done this, but thanks for your help.

RTFM!

Sorry, had to do that.

Look in your manual they will show you how to make the tool to hold it back. You cannot order one from Honda without buying the new tensioner. Time to get out the tin snips or try your luck with a screw driver.

You can just back the two bolts out a smidge then remove the center bolt to expose the tensioner. Back it out all the way with a little regular screwdriver and hold it there. Then seat your tensioner by tightening the two outer bolts. Make sure you let the tensioner go back (spring loaded), people have had the tension relieved and skipped a tooth and the valves don't like that.
