DRZ-400E front sprocket

Recommended Posts

How small of a front sprocket can I safely use on the DRZ-400E?

I already moved from the stock 14/47 to 13/47, but I feel that it is still geared too high for the mountain trail riding we do. I have geared all of my families bikes down much more than most people would prefer. Most of our riding is fairly slow, family oriented trail riding.

Is it safe to go 12/47?

This may be related to another post regarding my engine running poorly and not delivering adequate power. Perhaps once the engine is tuned properly we will have sufficient power at low speed with the current gearing.

What would others recommend?

13/47 is plenty low.i think you have a tuning issue more than gearing.

a 12 tooth sprocket is to much of turn for the chain.
