WR headlight on YF

Recommended Posts

Has anyone mounted a WR headlight assembly on a YZ250F? Do you need different brackets, tripple clamps, etc or does it clamp to the forks?

You need the brackets that mount to the top fork pinch bolts too, don't know if they are a Yam part number or even available. I have put an UFO "Ray" unit on, looks the biz, only £35.00 in th UK

you need a 45W or greater stator, e.g. from electrex...

and

they cost about US$220 or so.

ps

or you could find someone like rick who swapped out his WRF stator for a YZF stator, and buy the OEM WRF stator off of him.

Thanks for the info. I may go with an aftermarket headlight assembly too. I think they just clamp to the fork legs.

If you are going OEM, keep in mind that YZF stators must be used with YZF CDI and WRF stators must be used with WRF CDI. Or you have to rewire the stator. I was not able to get the YZF stator to work on my WRF no matter how I rewired it. I finally picked up a YZF CDI on ebay and rewired the stator to stock. Now it works great.

The aftermarket stators should be wired correctly but some need minor modifications to the OEM wiring harness.

Wrooster,

Getting ready for a 24hr race in Goldendale Oct. 30,31 and am looking into lighting. Curious of who you recommend for a rewind, looking for about 100 watts maybe more.
