New 2001 DRZ400E rider w/ jetting question, thanks

Recommended Posts

I purchased a 2001 DRZ400E that is bone stock, so I am sure the jetting was never touched. I knocked out the end cap in the exhaust tip, and other than that have not touched anything else. I wanted straight advice before i tried re-jetting, because I don't know a lot about it. My problem is that a quick rap of the throttle causes a sputter, and could kill it if I open it all the way. It has great power past that point and all through the rest of the powerband. I would like the simplest fix - 165 main jet and 48 pilot maybe? I ride from 2500-7000' normally. Any help is apreciated, thanks

If you're going to leave the airbox stock, try turning the fuel screw outwards and compare. Make sure the bike is fully warmed up before testing.

The #165 and #48 may be too rich without removing the airbox snorkel. Make only 1 change at a time and test.
