Lowered rear suspension?

Recommended Posts

I just bought an 02 CRF450 off eBay. The bike is clean and runs strong. But I think the rear suspension seems lowered. It looks like the clearance between the tire and the fender is less than other CRFs.

Are there common techniques used to lower the rear suspension? I'm not sure what to look for to see if my eyes are playing tricks on me or if I need to undo a suspension mod.

Thanks in advance!

Look at the rear shock linkage. We lowered my wife's CRF250 using a Kouba link which is gold in color. The other way to lower the rear of a bike is done internally in the shock and there are no visible signs of that. Measure the distance from the rear wheel bolt to the rear fender then compare it to another bike and see if there is a difference. If you wanna measure and let me know what you got with it on a stand, I'll go out in the garage and measure mine and let ya know...

Thanks for the comparison offer. That would really help.

Measuring from the center of the rear axle to the point on the fender directly above the axle I get 24 inches.
