fork question

Recommended Posts

I am replacing the inner spring bolt assy. and would like to know if it can be replaced without complete dissassembly of the forks. I am just looking to save some time. Has anyone done or tried this?

It can be done, Im just wondering why you'd replace it? Its not like its a high wear item. but your compression stack is on it too.

Just screw it out of the top of the fork...it'll have a pretty good suction on it. Just go slow, but firmly.

thanks for the reply. I am replacing mine with the set up off of the 02 cr250. The crf has a spring rate 2.4. The cr has a spring rate of 1.6. I am tring to get the front end a little softer and smoother. I just didn't fell like pulling the forks apart.

ahhh, you may not want to do that unless your really light and only ride trails too.

The stock IC spring on the CRF 2.1, not 2.4 and the valving is stiffer too...

I guess its easy enough to swap it back if its way too soft, but I think thats what you'll find.

Good luck though....
