Correct handlebar position for fatigue

Recommended Posts

Hi all, have been noticing my hands and back getting numb after a few hours on the bike. Just switched seat foam (KTM stock = 2x6) but also notice I slide forward onto tank while riding. My mechanic says my bars are raked to far forward. What's the best way to tell if the bars are set correctly? He also suggested getting taller bars. BTW, the bike was lowered 1.5 inches. My size, 5'9/165 lbs.

Any suggestions??

Thanks, Tim.

I just got bars that were 1" taller than stock, and my riding improved immediately. I was very comfortable with the stock bars, and didn't know there'd be an improvement while seated.

The handgrips should be level or pointed down slightly depending on preference. The ends of the handgrips should not be pointed up- this'll strain the heck out of your wrists.

If you do a lot of standing, taller bars will make this more comfortable in almost all cases.
