Jetting advice at 4500ft - 60-70 degrees

Recommended Posts

I recently took my 2002 Y426 from my hometown of 4500ft to near sea level. The bike ran awesome with the stock jetting, very responsive and fast. However, at 4500 ft I am constantly fouling plugs and the bike is not nearly as fast. Could someone give me a good starting point to try and jet this thing for 4500 60-70, using the stock 02 needle. I have the other needed Jets, just too chicken to lean out witout hurting the motor.

Your bike's jetting richens at higher altitude. Adjusting leaner will help as long as your float level is correct and there are no other problems.

Move the carburetor needle clip position one step higher to lower the needle. Turn the fuel screw on the bottom of the carburetor 1/4 turn inwards. Keep the same main jet as full throttle is rarely where plug fouling occurs.
