New Top End Question

Recommended Posts

I live in Southern Cal and I am taking my 03 CRF450 in to get the top end done on Monday. I bought the 12.5:1 Weseco Piston and a top end gasket set. I am taking it to Mid CIties Honda where a lot of you guys recommended me to go. Here is my question, the service guy was saying something to me about boring the cylinder and putting in an oversized piston and I told him all I wanted was te replace the piston, rings and wrist pin. And then he said, oh, okay we cvan do that. Was he trying to up sell me or is this something that generally needs to be done. I replaced top end after top end on my 2 smoke and there were never any problems with scoring on the cylinder. Please advise.

Thanks

You really could do it yourself really easily. $175 sounds like a lot of dough for something that is so easy to do yourself. Not to say that it is not a good price. It really is a good price for labor, but you could do it yourself in 2 hours your first time.
