Tightening cams...

Recommended Posts

Just a quick question, the last time I took my cams out and timing chain off and re-installed it I made sure the bolts that hold the cams in place were pretty tight. Since i broke my tourque recently i had to kinda guess. anyways, i am sure I saw a reply to some subject that also stated that if you over tighten those bolts, you can hear them knocking or something to that degree. Just wondering if thats true and If i should pull it all apart before my next ride. Thanks in advance.

Definetly pull it apart now! Re-torque it with a good inch-pound torque wrench and cross your fingers that nothing was damaged.

Dont even ride or start your bike until they are torqued correctly. That will cause some serious damage it tightend even 1-2 inch pounds too little or too much. Those cams are spinning at half the rpms of your piston so the correct torque is VERY important.
