Baffle removal on stock exhaust, 96 250L

Recommended Posts

Ok, is there something I'm missing. I took the two bolts out, and dremeled all the way around the insert to break the spot welds. It's now loose, but something else seems to be holding it in there! Whats the deal?

Thanks,

BT

From what I can remember when I had my 250L, its just the two bolts, and the tack welds. Then giver a yank, should come out no problem. You'll probably want to put it back in as soon as you hear what it sounds like baffleless.

I tried the same thing, but you'll probably need a slide hammer to pull it. The other responder has a point about excessive noise. I ended up using the dremel to carve out the steel surrounding the primary opening, then used a wire hanger to pull out some of the baffling to open 'er up some. I opened it up just enough to help the jet kit and by appearances it should pass inspection (in CA Fed. forests).
