300 exc and taller gearing?

Recommended Posts

Does the 300EXC have enough oats to pull taller gearing to not make its top speed so limited? Also since the 200EXC has 6 gears...will it possibly fair better on longer straights, I read somewhere that the 200EXC ha slike 46 hp..seems kinda high.

the 300 will pull taller gears, but at the expense of low-speed/technical rideability. mine will easily do 60-ish with slightly lowered gearing. i find i don't really need to go faster than that offroad, but i'm a wuss.

i think the 200 hp is more like 38, but that's just from memory.

I'm running 14:50 on my 300exc. No problem pulling 5th wide open... even in sandy conditions. I'm at around 80 miles per hour before my life starts passing before my eyes. And for low speed technical, I prefer a higher gear. Takes some of the zippyness out of first gear... and seems to improve traction. Ofcourse, I also have a vforce3, fmf fatty, fmf turbinecore II, and jd jetting installed. This may make some difference.

I owned a 520exc for 18 months and now the 300exc for 18 months. IMO, I'd take the 300 over the 520 any day.
