Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

I Have a 2002 426f. When I ride it the header glows red. Even while going in secong gear and moving air across the radiator and engine. I just got this bike and I don't want to blow it up by running it to lean.

Usually the header quits glowing as you start to move and airflow cools it.

Check the jetting to see if it is stock. If the jetting is leaner than stock, try adjusting richer.

The jetting sounds leaner than it needs to be. Turn the fuel screw outwards on the bottom of the carburetor float bowl. The range of adjustment is 1 - 3 turns from seated and 1 1/2 turns out is normally a good setting. Try 1/4 to 1/2 turn out from where it currently is. See if the return to idle improves.

Check for air leaks and that the hot start is closing also.

LEFT OF THE DRAIN PLUG IS WHERE THE FUEL SCREW IS LOCATED--
