04 CRF450 Jetting, with JD Jetting Kit

Recommended Posts

Dear James,

I was wondering what you thought about this jetting for my bike under these conditions....Stock bike, at 4200FT Elevation, at around 40 to 60 degrees. I have the Blue needle #2 with a 178 main?

I also had a question on how long the duration should be on the Accel pump, I have a P-38 Lightining, and want to make sure I am taking full advantage of it, or if it is making things worse. Thank You!

The setting sound good. I would compare the standard settings that came with the kit for 3000-6000ft (red #4 and #175MJ).

I don't know how long the duration will be with P-38 when snapping the throttle open. It usually is a fraction of a second.

Thanks James, I'll give the red needle a try!

BTW, not to say you didn't help me with the Squirt Duration, but I was looking for what the Squirt was suppose to be, like is there a standard time (say .3/sec) or is it different for different altitudes, and temperatures?

There isn't a right or wrong pump duration. It needs to squirt "something" (~.1 second or more), but more than 1 second is spending fuel unneccessarily. Repeated throttle pumping can cause over-rich conditions and flooding more often with a longer pump flow.

Thanks for your advise, I'll time the duration of the squirt and go from there.
