Recommended Posts

I need to cut down my new O-ring and have never done it before, any suggestions on the best way to do it

You could use a hack saw, but that takes a long time. If you have the tools, a torch would make quick work of cutting the chain. You are not planning on using the chain on a CRF, are you? 😢

Just get a chain tool. They are like $30 at your moto store. Very easy to use.

You could try grinding the head off the rivets, then using a pin punch to drive the link out. I bought a top-drawer tool from Motion Pro about 10 years ago ($70) and it not only breaks the chain without grinding, but also rivets clipless-masterlink chains like those found on killer street bikes. Buy the tool and you'll only cry once, rather than every time you swap chains.

Find how long you need it and grind the heads off the rivits on one side. Pry the plate off with a flat blade screwdriver and you're done in 5 minutes.

thanks for all the input, got it cut last night with an angle grinder, worked like a charm, P.S. 13/52 gearing is the awsome
