TC and TE 450's

Recommended Posts

Major differences: The TE has a 6 speed transmission, and 18" rear wheel. The TC has a 5 speed transmission and a 19" rear wheel. Both bikes have a lighting coil and voltage regulator. Both models also come with spark arrestor mufflers, but the TC also has a titanium exhaust included. The TC will have pirelli tires and the TE will have michelin enduro comp. tires. Hope this helps! Mike. ?

Is the gearing the same for both and the TE just has the added gear? Any idea of the top speed of the 5 vs. 6? Motor and suspension specs the same between the TE and TC?

...and, the suspension springs and valving are stiffer, hotter cam and ignition maps. No head light or trip computer. I don't think the TC comes with the kick starter kit.

As far as gearing I think overall the gearing on the TE is taller. Neather of these bikes are good for more than about 65 mph.

Are you serious about 65?

I would believe that for my TE and now with the odometer hooked up, I can verify it. But a six speed TE450 with a 1 tooth taller front sprocket should at least to 80 I would thinkg. Obviously I am speculating here since you have the bike and I don't but 65 seems low for desert guys. So far in the tight woods I have only gotten my 250 into fourth gear and even around my house have not touched 5th or 6th.

Great bike though.

I started out the year on a TE450, now I am on a TC450.

I think the TC power is better.

The gearing is definately different. Higher 1st on the TC, and a higher 6th on the TE.

Took a little getting use too, but no problem.

The top speed is lower than a KTM, both TC & TE, the TE closer, but short on a 450 EXC by at least 10mph.

The TC is lighter, barely. Suspension is a little stiffer, but still better than my old KX for the bush.

After getting use to it, the TC seems better???

A local pro, currently 1st in Pacific North West Offroad Series feels he is definately faster on the TC, he too has tried both.

We ride LOTS of tight, really tight stuff here in BC Canada, and the TC is fine. I honestly feel the new TC I have is smoother running, and a better, more controlable power delivery??

Go figure, possibly the slightly higher gearing suits the engine?

They both will take lights, speedo's etc.

The only complaint I would have is the chain on the TC is like butter, junked it after 8 hrs of riding, while the o-ring unit on the TE would have lasted forever.

i talked directly with Husky USA before I took delivery of my TC and I feel they were absolutely correct. They told me it was an identical bike, except for Suspension, exhaust, rear tire, and gearing.

AWESOME BIKE!! ?
