Parting out a 250F on Ebay?

Recommended Posts

I have a clean 03 stock 250F that I am considering parting out on Ebay. Has anyone had any experience with this? How far do you break it down? Is it fairly easy to sell most of it? Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question, but here is my answer:

I parted out my entire 87kdx 200 on ebay. my advice:

1) charge a flat shipping rate--estimate your weight or weigh it exactly then figure ground rate to furthest destination you plan on shipping

2) part it all out---electrical is usually worth quite a bit as well as wheel assemblies. Plastic is easier to sell as a set.

3) I only accept paypal, if someone wants to use a money-order I charge them extra. Most people for some reason will not read the terms of your auction and usually get pissed when you inform them you don't accept personal checks, i.o.u's, first born's, etc.

4) Do a little research for a week or two and see what similiar parts are selling for.

5) selling the whole bike complete would be my first course of action since it is easier!

--some may disagree with my tips or have better ideas, i'm not a professional ebayer, but did end up making a few bucks on the ol' bike.

Would and 03 tank and seat fit my 01 wr250f? If so I would buy the tank seat and rad fairings from you. Any interest?

I parted out my 2001 WR250F with bad crank. Here is my price list of what I thought I could get and what I sold for. Some losers and some winners that evened out. First number is what I thought it would sell for and second number is price sold for. All prices are after shipping and seller fees. If you are patient enough it is the way to go. I started all the auctions at $1.00 and let the market dictate price. The guy who bought complete front end for $175 got a hell of a deal.

How much for the whole bike? I would be interested in the whole thing before you part it out.

TexasT, I'm a little confused. 2 days ago you sent me a private message telling me you had a sub frame & airbox you'd sell me. When I replied and asked a few Q's you response with "Sorry, I thought I wanted 426 parts ". Now your going to sell 03 03-250F parts on ebay???? what gives???

Wow, what a response. I have just put the whole bike up for sale and if I don't get a response pretty quickly I will part it out. Its in great condition and is pretty much stock with the exception of pro-moto billet sprark arrestor on the stock silencer, an RK xring chain and Stainless Sprocket.

By the way MXOldtimer, I think you may have me confused with someone else? I have not PM'd anybody about parts. Sorry.

I'll get a list of prices together and get back to those who PM'd. Thanks for the responses, Once again this site has proven to be a huge help. Great site, and Great users.
