How to fix and reinforce broken steering stop?

Right before I left for school, I had an extremely violent crash on my KXF, it broke the steering stop off the triple clamp and the steerin stop off the frame (well partially, it is half ripped off).

Is the fix as simple as getting it welded back on? Should I put a bigger (taller) one on so that it has more of the frame to grab onto?

Riding before school eh? You can weld it on and it'll be fine (as long as it is welded properly) so long as you don't crash on that side. It should stay on there if the bike falls over or if it's a small crash. However most likely it will fall off if you have a violent crash. I'm sure you're aware that the welding will screw up the anodizing on the frame. In my opinion, the best thing to do is call up kawi and see what they think about it, maybe ask if you can send in the frame over the winter to get it repaired or exchanged. However, welding it will work.

Im not concerned about the clamp...I am concerned about the frame....are these frames heat treated? WIll I have to reheat treat after welding?
