Best gearing for track?

Recommended Posts

It is that time to replace the chain and sprokets on my 04 250f. What have you guys found to be the best gearing for motocross? I heard to go from a stock 48 in the rear to a 49? Any suggestions?

I used to use a 48T for Blackfoot and a 50T for the Raymond track. At Raymond (Sand) I liked to have a little more drive for the uphill whoop sections and there was 1 double out of the corner that I could clear in 2nd gear if I had the 50T but I'd have to use 1st - 2nd if I had the 48T. Just using 50T was easier and safer.

Basically I thought my YZ was good with 48T if the track was hard pack but for sand I liked a bit more drive and didn't mind shifting a little more.

Hope that helps... :cry::cry:

Not enough info to make a comment.

What is your weight, what altitude, what soil, what mods, what level rider are you?
