need help with Yamaha part numbers...

On the part number how does the letters mean??

Ok on my 02 the part # I want is 5nl 11311-00 00

the part number for the 03 model is 5ul 11311-00 00

and for the 04 model it is 5xc 11311-00 00

Now this if for a cylinder,are these parts inter changeable??

If I remember correctly the first combination of letters is the model number. The only way to be sure on these two parts is to compare them.

all 3 years are different. But all 3 are interchangable. They kept modding the cylinder to reduce the losses from the piston coming down and trying to pressurize the crankcase. Sometimes whats good for a 2 stroke is bad for a 4 stroke.

'Rider is correct. Yamaha uses a "basic number" system for their parts. That is, a # 11311 is a cylinder. The 3 character prefix is the year and model, and the four digits trailing the basic number are for mid-year revisions, if any.
