Yosh CDI Problems

Recommended Posts

I just installed a yosh cdi I bought from parts411 on my DRZ400S. I cut the green wire on the big plug (6 connector) but the bike cuts out at around 5-6000 rpm. I reconnected the old cdi and reconnected the green wire and it all works fine. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance....

Pretty sure. I tried 3 separate times, the last time I plugged and unplugged a couple of times as well as wiggling the connection, I then made sure it was definitely in all the way. I inspected the Yosh cdi pins and they look OK.

You also need to know that with a Yosh CDI, it allows your engine to rev to 11,000rpm and you need to have you're valve springs shimmed properly to handle the extra rpm, or you're gonna grenade your valves. It's not a drop in to run the Yosh CDI. Ride safe... :thumbsup:Andrew
