Tahoe to Vegas Dual sport ride...?

Recommended Posts

Since doing Cisco & Sharpies route from Auburn to Boomtown, and

talking about vegas & a TT get together, I was thinking a 2 day

or more trip to Vegas would be great.

Anyone with me....?

Tahoe to Vegas with one stop over, & back....? Guess it would be

2 ride days to vegas, 1 or 2 days in vegas, & 2 days back. 5 or 6

day trip.

I know there is a LA - Barstow - Vegas every year, but Im 500 miles

north of LA and think a norcal route could be some nice riding.

Posting in the DS forum also.

All the map sites show 650 miles but that is going south through

California. I entered Carson City to Vegas & it was 450.

Maybe another 100 from Foresthill - Carson City mostly dirt...?

I guess 2 days would be a hard ride depending on terrain @ 275+ per day.

Ok, maybe Im crazy...

hope you find a way to make this happen. i've been considering a sojourn like this for some time, 8 years actually, when i first entered california with a carload of belongings. i had no concept of how to do it, when to do it...i just knew why to do it.

the DRZ opens the possibility. only recently have a begun to pore over some maps. good luck!

Yeah, your crazy. It would be a good ride though, trying to figure out the route would be hard and very time consuming if you shoot for mostly dirt.

Hey Duane,

Would making the ride to Virginia City be shorter or farther than Vegas  Never been to Vegas, maybe we could make it work... in a year or so. You know recon and all.

Yeah no hurry fryboy, just throwing out ideas. Vegas is a great

destination for relaxing IMO, a crusty dirt ride to it would make

it even more enjoyable. Posted this in the DS forum but Ill toss it

in here also.

I have no idea on full route yet, I figure Foresthill - Tahoe - Carson

City - whatever cool places between CC & Vegas - Then party & relax for

a day or 2. Maybe a faster route home or some group transport of bikes &

people back to Carson or Tahoe...?

I can pack fairly light for a 5 or 6 day trip, would be nice to have

a truck for overnight bags. But Ive camped for 6 days with a backpack,

so a couple bags on a bike should be good for 5 or 6 days.

No hurry on route planning, but you guys from anywhere between Carson

City & Vegas are more then welcome to give me some dirt ideas for that

part of the route. :cry::lol:

My guess is this would not be a large turn out ride since many people

cant get away for 5 or 6 days, etc. etc. But any number is good by me.:lol:

Maybe next summer or fall, sometime after or before the SheetIron 300 & the

Broken Toe... Id like to do both of those again for sure next year

and maybe even the Reno 200, and the Tahoe - Vegas 500...

So much riding & relaxing to do, so little time & money...
