Rear Suspension Setup

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere in this forum about measuring your "race sag" and that you should have between 3 3/4" to 4" between measurements. I'm coming in at 4 1/2". The post stated "Adjust your rear spring preload rings for the right measurement. Loosen the top ring first to unlock the bottom ring then rotate the spring and bottom ring at the same time to adjust the preload tension."

What is the difference between adjusting this and the Rear Shock Absorber Damping Force? I've adjusted the Compression damping force and the rebound damping force back to "standard" settings according to the Suzuki Service Manual.

Thanks.

spring pre load adjusts the ride height.the damping adjuster controls the "speed" of wich the bike moves thru the travel.

Burned,

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense.

Looks like I need to adjust the "spring pre load" per the post.
