XR50 Carb cap

Recommended Posts

You need to unscrew the cap from the carb then disconnect the cable from the slide inorder to pull the cable out.

Be carefull not to lose the clip that holds the needle in. You will see what I mean once you remove the cable/spring.

Alright here's what you do:

1. Grab the cable housing with pliers and RIP it out of the metal elbow.

2. Cut the bend out of the elbow so that there is no bend.

3. Grab the bottom half with pliers and drill a hole JUST big enough for the new cable to fit in DO NOT DRILL ALL THE WAY THROUGH. This will stop the cable from being pulled into the carb.

4. Put the cable in your new hole and CRIMP it tight with pliers. Now wrap it with electrical tape and have fun...

I bought the Pro-Taper kit as well, and your new throttle cable should have a new carb cap already installed on it. There should be no need to remove the old carb cap from the stock cable.
