Why is my XR smoking?!?!?!?!?!

Recommended Posts

I have about 80 miles on the new top end of my 2002 XR250, and blue smoke is still coming out of the exhaust like it's burning oil. If the dealer did put too much oil in it, wouldn't it have burnt off already?? also, something in the cylinder is making a whirling sound and I have no idea what that is. please help me!!! whats wrong with my bike????

Very strange

Everytime I rebuilt my XR's they stopped smoking immediately. Did they replace valve stem seals and reseat the valves? or did they just put new rings in it? Sounds like the job wasn't done really well. As for the whiring, it's hard to make a suggestion without hearing the noise first hand, my XR's always had a slight whiring noise in them. Cam shaft Bearings Maybe

If your really worried about it, or suspect dodgy workmanship, I would take it back for them to listen and look at it sooner than later.
