03 CRF running lean

Recommended Posts

I also posted this in the jetting forums, but thought I would post here incase it is a bike specific issue..

A few weeks ago I noticed it was running hot... I tore it down and found that the plug was white and the left intake was at zero... I sent it to the shop for new valves and figured that is why it was running lean...I didn't check the plug when I got it back and it seemed to run well. After a crash destroyed my stock header, I put a Yoshimura full system on last week (with stock jetting)...when I got home from the track I pulled the plug and it is scary white again! Is this strictly because of the pipe with stock jetting or do I have another issue? Thanks

One thing, fourstrokes dont color the plugs the way two strokes do unless youve got two stroke oil in the fuel.

That said, there should be some coloration to the plug, but golden brown aint gonna happen on pump gas.

You could go up a size on the main to feel safer.

Does the bike pop a little on decelleration?

It still shouldn't be white should it? It does pop some on deacceleration, but I will admit, I ride it like a two stroke too!
