Fresh motor break-in?

Recommended Posts

How many miles do you guys suggest going before switching to synthetic? I've got about 300 mi. on my 280 motor. Also, when I put in my heavy duty clutch, Should I use non-synthetic to break it in or is synthetic OK to use? Thanks in advance.Ryan. P.S. The 280 kicks A$$

Dino oil for clutch break in too.

Not sure what exactly a safe milage is to switch to syn. I have about 200 miles on my new motor and was planning on switching to syn @ my next oil change.

always do breakin with reg MOtorcycle grade oil, NO blends no synthetic, after a couple of oil changes you can switch to semie of full synthetic.

As for clutch most premium quality MOTORCYCLE oils will be fine, don't use car oils they contain additives which should never be used on clutches.

I use Motul 5100 for the past 12 yrs(semie synthetic) , some use Amsoil(full synthetic), they are both fine oils.

Whichever you use, change it often its cheap insurance in keeping your 280 cool and insuring long life.
