Do 250F's have power to carry a bigger/ wider tire for sand hills ?

Recommended Posts

for the dunes i just bought a cheng-shin sand pro 6-paddle tire. its dimensions are 100/90-19, got it out of the owners manual. i would say a bored out 250f has the power to run a bigger tire, maybe even the stocker...not sure though.

I'm running a 130/70-19 Michelin S-12 for soft tracks (which Michelin says is the same size as a 110/100-19) I was worried about it hitting the exhaust, but I took off the shock and tested the clearance and it was fine.

Looks like the narrow 1.85" stock wheel pulls in some of the tire width

Thanks for the info. *My initial thought was to run a 120/100 from WR250 (2-stroke), but might not have the clearance on YZF250.

I also run a 130/70 Michellin S-12 rear and the motor turns it just fine. The tred wears much better and the bike grabs the dirt much better with the wider tire too.

CBDADDY: The '01 yz250f I just picked up has a near bald 130/70/19 michelin. (Front is still new). *Sounds like this tire worked well for you. I like the idea of wider for more traction & sand. I will look this tire up over the winter.
