Doing the Baja 1000 next month

Recommended Posts

Actually me and my cousin are going to Mexico and ride the course before the actual race, my first time doing this, anybody have any recommendations as to what to bring ? We are going for 8 days and I'm bringing my DRZ and he rides a XR650R. Should be fun, first time I ever did anything like this

Try and get someone who has been to Baja before to go with you.

Be very careful on the course. Some prerunners think they are racing.

Get gas when ever you can and fill up.

Gas sometimes becoms scarse during pre run time.

So many peole down there.

"Good luck and keep the rubber side down!!"

Corky

This should be repeated again and again. Ahead of the race, the course can be crowded and dangerous, far more so than normal. Be very careful.

When ya going down? We will be pre-running this weekend--two XR400's. I've got a white helmet.

Then again Nov 7. - 15th. Lemme know and we can compare schedules/routes.

What class you racing?

Just FYI if you have at least 100 mile range you can find fuel: First night at Bay of LA, Second at Constitution or La Paz if you leave early each morning and keep moving.

Watch for traffic from Ojos to Felipe and from San Juanico to Javier. Have fun--its a great ride!

gas at B of LA

gas at San Francisquito (small detour off course)

gas at Vizcaino

gas at Ignacio

gas at San Juanico

gas at KM 100 (its hidden--ask!)
