Re-packing YZ250F muffler

Recommended Posts

I'm going to re-pack my muffler soon. But one thing, if I drill the riverts at the end of the muffler does the end cap come of leaving the core inside? Cause this is what I would like it to do so I can jam the packing inside or if I drill the rivets at the front of the muffler does the core stay inside?

I did mine last month. I took both fwd and aft rivets out. Took the end cap off then slid the can off, the packing stayed with the exhaust. Don't think jamming the packing back inside will work, there are two oval shaped pieces of packing that go on the fwd and aft ends of the long part of packing. Also mine was tight just to slip the can pack on and line up the fastener holes. Hope this helps.

On average, how often should the packing be done? How many Hours?
