WR450 Rear shock adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hope you can help a real new guy to this whole suspension set up idea. I need to know how you are supposed to adjust the rear shock on this bike. There is no way to get at the shock without removing the airbox (which I haven't figured out how to do yet) or the whole rear frame. The users manual is about as clear as mud! I'm planning on having the front and rear suspension redone (revalve, new springs, etc..) this winter, but in preparation, I would love to know how to adjust.

Thanks

Use a hammer and long punch to break the top preload nut loose. If they bike is on a stand and the threads are clean you should be able to grab the spring and tighten or loosen as ness. You should be able to slide the punch in next to the frame and resevour.

The subframe has 3 bolts holding it. A long one on top and 2 6mm allen head bolts. 1 on each side down tube. Loosen the air boot clamp and pull the subframe off. You may want to take the silencer off but it isn't ness.
