all i did was get the 42 pilot and have no problems with it stock.

Stock jetting will work with the suggested changes, if you want a minimum change.

The jetting kit adds torque over the stock jetting and compensates for the lean bottom-end with the needle diameter and fuel screw rather than needing a bigger pilot jet. It also improves the top-end revs.

i've got the bike now and i'm about to make some changes:

remove backfire screen

dremel exhaust ports

will i need to adjust the jetting for this?

Increase the main jet 1 step with the backfire screen removed, and the same suggestions as before from above.

I have your jetting kit and would like your confirmation on the jetting I'm going to use.

The backfire screen is removed, I'll be riding in 65-85 temps, 50-90% humidity at sea level and a little above.

My plan for jetting with your kit is:

Fuel screw turned out to 2.5 (it's a Zip-Ty)

Pilot 42

Red needle 5th clip

Main 178

Your described jetting looks good.

KMM181rmz ---5c-15c is about 40-60F (32F +1.8x5c = 41F, 32F +1.8x15c = 59F)

motolink ---Try CRF450 red marked needle in the 5th from top clip position. Not all kit needles are the same, but this should be close.
