James??? 05 CRF450 FUEL SCREW

Recommended Posts

I plan on getting a JD kit when I install a pipe. For now I bought a Zip-Ty fuel screw. I have two questions:

1st// Are the 04 and 05 fuel screws the same(different P/N from Honda).

2nd// My fuel screw was 2 1/4 turns out from the factory, should I go bigger on the slow jet?

I put the 04 storm screw,in my 05 fit well the 05 stock screw sticks down below the bowl for easier acess, but still not as handy as a finger adjustable fuel screw.I have the JD kit for my 05 haven't installed it yet.

Don't go bigger on the pilot jet on the '05 CRF450R until you ride it and are sure of the need. There is a chance you will want to keep the #42 pilot jet. The fuel screw can be up to 3 turns out safely before increasing the pilot jet size.

Thanks James, my 05 is a CRF450. It runs fine with the fuel screw at 2 1/4. The manual says it should be less then 2 turns out. I haven't installed the Zip-Ty screw because it's a different lenght. Did Honda change the taper on the fuel screw or is the reason for the new P/N a cosmetic one? Thanks again...Doug
