Spring Rates

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a used 04' TC 450 Husqvarna. I weigh 230'. Trail riding, GP's, no big jumps. Stock suspension too soft. 5.2 in rear (sachs), .43 in front(marzoochi). I've ordered a .48 for the front but unsure of the rear rate I should start at. 5.6 or 5.8? My local suspension shop did not have a clue, could you make a suggestion?

In australia our TC450 comes with .48 fork springs standard.

I would go for the 5.8 rear spring if i was you. I'm 200ib and I run a 5.4 rear spring in my 04 CR250, you are a bit heavier and the TC450 is heavier then the CR so the 5.8 would be a safer option. You can try the spring rate search on www.racetech.com, they have a TE450 on their listing, which uses the same components as the TC and should be good enough to give you a better starting point.
