No compession after sitting

It happened again. After sitting for a couple weeks my xr440

doesn't have much compression with the kick starter when trying to start it. Once I get it started and kill the engine its back to normal. It does burn oil with blue smoke and needs the top end gone thru. Any thoughts?

Sounds like the rings are getting gummed up and stuck while it sits and after running it and everything warms up they get freed up. Time for the top end you mentioned, just be sure you check the valve train to be on the safe side.

Sounds like a sticky valve not closing all the way or your valves need adjusted. It could be letting oil in through the guide, therefore the blue smoke.

That's what I figured on the valve guides and blue smoke. I wonder if a piece of carbon might be keeping a valve open.

Guy's,  I have an 1997 Honda XR400R and I need to do the front forks.  I'm a big guy 6'4" 375lbs.  So far I haven't been able to find a setup for a big guy. Any suggestions besides losing a lot of weight. :-)

Went riding on Christmas Eve  everything was working fine went through some mud and slipped dropped my bike tried to kick start it and the kick start went limp pushed it back up got compression again  kicked it over a bunch of times started to run again  rode it for the rest of the ride with no problems then on the way back on the road I gave it fill throttle  and it died hasn't started  since and now has little compression. Replaced the spark plug and changed the oil and filter and adjusted the valves but still very little Compression and won't start.
      Any ideas??  Would greatly appreciate

I have a 1986 xr250r, I'm interested in converting the rear drum brake wheel assembly to a rear disc brake system. Has anyone done this, and can you tell me what application parts will get the job done. thanks
