Leak Jet & Needle on CA 250X

So I'm told that the cure for the off idle bog is to use a 49 state needle and go with the 55 leak jet. Does this sound good? If so where should the clip on the needle go? I'm running with the end of the baffle cut off and just the rubber boot (cover) removed from the top of the airbox. Also am using the Applied block off kit and use a 150 main jet and 40 pilot. I have a 42 pilot as well, but the bike seems to like the 40 better. I ride around Souther California, mostly desert. Thanks for the help!

I just dropped the stock needle clip one position went with a 140 main and a 42 pilot, fule screw at 1 1/2 out, no more bog. Today 100 miles at Gorman and no bog no hesitation. I have no mods air box is still stock. 😢
