Ever seen a Honda pilot {OHV, not SUV}

Recommended Posts

Here is a video of some Honda Pilot action at Durhamtown Plantation, clearing some doubles. The XR400 rider is me.

One of the other Pilot pilots, a skilled driver, beat EVERYTHING on the track. Only a Yam{?}450 race quad could keep up!

I have never seen anything like it!

Maybe that problem was in the Odyssey. There were 7 Pilots there, no broken frames!

I rented 1 back in the late 80's while on vacation in Oregon, and ripped up the dunes for a little over an hour. I out jumped a couple of guys that were on Quad Racers, just pinned it and launced off the top of the dune 😢. This thing was all stock were not talking major air bay any strech of the imagination, but it sure was fun. 😢

Simon, found a good link with some forums and some FS info.

Looks like they made a 400. A 650 AWD version would be sweet.

Here is a pick link from a guy selling his 400 for $7500...

Guess good ones are not cheap. Wonder what motor is in the 400?

From the XR maybe? I think he sadi he bought it new in 1995...?

Maybe it was left over stock since I read on the main page they

only manufactured them in 1989 and 1990...?

Honda made the Pilot 400 in 1989 and 1990. It was a 400cc 2st. Centrifugal Clutch. You can find them on Ebay every now and then. A few months back a guy was selling his that was heavily modded with a 700cc liquid cooled 2st Rotax motor with a custom transmission and twin cooling fans mounted over the motor similar to a class 8 desert truck. The expansion chamber was as big as a howitzer.
