Shipping an XR100

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any good leads for shipping an XR100 cross-country?

Need shop pick-up, reliable and cheap.

I'm hoping because its so small and light, it wont cost as much as a full sizze bike.

Depends a lot on the to a from locations, of which you do not mention. Last time I had an XR100 shipped I contacted a local manufacturer that commonly shipped material on semi-trailers into my area and talked them into a free ride from Milwaukee to CO. Don't count on the free part but $100-$150 should do it, since it goes right into the drivers pocket. It just takes some research. Good luck.

I always put it in about 5 boxes and ship it UPS (which has gotten expensive).

Really?

What does it run you?

I just got a quote from an Allied mover who supposedly specializes in motorcycles. $650 ouch!

Do they still have that over 70lb screw you over price? or the oversize bend over price? Once, I was something like 1 inch over and the price almost doubled. Now, I usually ship USPO. But if UPS has changed their pricing, I might go back. Usally a buck a pound.

I just thought I would mention it. I HATE UPS every time I get a package shipped to me from the US I have to pay a $30 brokerage fee!

When I buy something on e-bay I usually ask if the guy can ship with US Post.
