Anyone feel like walking me through the electrical on a 91 XR250L?

I recently bought a 91 XR250L, my first dirt bike. It runs perfectly, but it looks like crap. For the past rew weeks I've been recovering the seat, fixing and painting the tank, scrubing off rust and caked sand, replacing handlebars, etc. My next project is to get the headlight and taillight/brakelight functional.

The last owner pretty much gutted it. No turn signals, horn, lights, battery, e-start, etc. A mechanic looked at it and laughed when he saw all of the wires. I'm not sure what's left on the bike that I can use. Someone told me I don't have to put a battery back on it if I wan't the headlight and taillight back. That's what I'd like to do to save on weight and cost.

My question is, does anyone feel like walking me through the electrical on my 91 XR250L so I can at least have a head, tail, and brake light and not use a battery?

Heyas Six, don't get discouraged about the electrical, it's not too difficult on the L. I just recently removed the battery from the loop on my 96205L and it was pretty easy. I just went by the info in the XR250L project which can be found here http://www.justxr.com/jh_info/xr250ldoc.html

I paid $600 for it and have budgeted $300-$400 to get it in the condition I want. So far I'm on track. Was $600 too much?
