HELLO

I think that the gearing depends more on what your track is like.

In my opinion, the drz has a super-high 1st gear, then 2nd, 3rd and 4th are close together,

then 5th is tall like overdrive. My opinion is that I'd gear it so then you use 2nd for the tightest

turns of the track, 'cause chances are you'll be bouncing from 2nd through 4th, then back down to 2nd

most of the time. (which seemed much different than a CRF that I rode where 1st was tall, and every

gear afterwards was close together, so 1st was used in the tight turns rather than 2nd)

Anyone else? I could be wrong

Street. Its gets really buzzy at high speeds. I'd just like to get the bikes revs down at highway speeds. I ride trails mostly, but want to have some street fun as well. 2 bikes in one!

OOPS, i thought you meant gearing for the track.

I currently run 15/40 street.

It lost considerable oomph compared to 15/44, but at least it doesn't rev so much

on highways anymore.

BTW, I did 250 miles of backroad blitzing on Sunday (mid-NY/Connecticut border area). My ass hurts.

Anyone try fitting a Concours seat to the DRZ yet? 😢

Post your pics 😢

Where is everyone getting the 38-44 rear sprockets?

None of the mfr.s make them. I believe that Sprocket specialists might, but the leadtime...

Remember 41 t is stock rr sprocket for dr350 96-98 I

believe. It has same pn# as drz400 in rocky mountain mc catalog, but as always give the folks here a TT a shot first.I run a 41 t rear on my drz440e sm/works fine.Still a

little buzzy on top.Should be better when I move front one

up from 14t to 15t.I believe you have to remove 2 links off stock chain for this set-up.Burned knows for sure. 😢

Really? 😢

I put a 15 on mine and it's slightly hitting the black plastic piece behind the sprocket. I just assumed a 16 would be too big.

My bike has 3x3, FCR, HotCams, and gasket.

It used to lift 2nd with no clutch with 15/44.

Rev and lots of clutch would lift 3rd.

Now with 15/40, I need to slip and rev a little bit with 2nd.

3rd is dead, waiting for a big bore or nitrous 😢

I agree. 15/44 is great for hooligan riding. I am currently running 15/41. Second gear needs a bounce on the seat and a good tug on the bars to lift the wheel.

What would be a good source to buy a new 16T sprocket (not ebay)?

Is the countershaft the same as a DR650? I would look but my 650 is in Caly... I have a extra chain slider to hack up and see how it fits, so I am not worried about that... I have run 15/41... but I am still looking to get below the buzz at 70mph for long trips (100 mile +)

As mentioned above, I don't think you can run a 16 without removing your front case guard.

Probably not a good idea. Even if you did remove it it would still be a very tight fit.

I think sprocket specialists has one listed for the DRZ, but no one has posted they used it.

A rear 38 is your next option.
