Dear Suspension God, 😢

My weight = 155-160lbs.

02CRF450R:

-race sag @ 100mm

-free sag = 35mm

Honda manual says I should go lighter rate because my free sag is over 25mm. Stock spring in bike 5.4.

Will the 5.0 from an 04 CRF250R/X be too light?

Is that what is actually stock in a CRF250R/X? 😢

Maybe just a 5.2?

03DRZ400S:

-race sag @ 100mm

-free sag = 50mm

Stock 5.5 is therefore much too heavy a rate. 😢

Since this is a woods bike it should have an even softer rate then a motocross, therefore the free sag should be 10-20mm instead of the 15-25mm spec'd by the Honda manual for motocross. Am I correct in my thinking? 😢 Pitch the 5.5 and use the 5.3 from the DRZ"E" model or maybe a 5.0?

I am trying to understand you but you can't judge 2 bikes against each other like you are trying to do. The DRZ probobly weighs atleast 50 lbs more thus the heavier rate.

The proper spring for the crf450 would be a 5.1 for your weight. The 5.0 should work.

The spring on the drz is just a little stiff for you. Try a 5.2 Technically a 5.3 would be perfect but no one sells them.

Do you know if race tech is correct in saying that the CRF250R/X uses a 5.0 rate shock spring as stock? 😢

For you info, the DRZ400E uses a 5.3 rate. I have someone I can trade with.

😢

If free sag for the CRF450R should be 15-25 mm, What should free sag be for the DRZ400S? 😢
