I need some help/advice.

Recommended Posts

I just recently bought a 2005 CRF 250R brand new, and I was wondering...

1) What should I do for the break-in procedjure?

2) What kind/brand of oil should I run?

3) Do you use the same kind of oil for the transmisson and the engine oil?

4) How often should I change my oils? It says in the manual about every 10-15 hours, but with my old KXF 250F the manual said every 4-6 hours.

This is very appreciated. Thanks.

this is what i did for break in:

Rode around in a parking lot for 5 min. Not any more than 1/2 throttle, then let it sit

Rode again around a parking lot the same way for 5 min

Took it out to a track and rode it fairly hard for about 15 min, then let it sit

Then i rode it as hard as i could. Havent had any probs so far at about 35 hours, the exhaust is a little thick however.

As for oil, the honda oil 10-40 is nearly fool-proof. It works very well in both motor and tranny

I change the oil around 5 hours, and filter every other oil change.

1) What should I do for the break-in procedjure?

Break it in ->Hard<-

2) What kind/brand of oil should I run?

Honda GN4 both sides for break-in. HP4 tranny and HP4M Crank after break-in.

3) Do you use the same kind of oil for the transmisson and the engine oil?

See above

4) How often should I change my oils? It says in the manual about every 10-15 hours, but with my old KXF 250F the manual said every 4-6 hours.

After break-in (1 hour) then every 8 hours thereafter.
