engine break in period.

Recommended Posts

To seat the rings, (1)just start it up and let it run for about 7 minutes, being gentle on the throttle. Turn it off and let it cool down. Redo step (1) 3 times. The next time you ride it, don't do any major revving for about the first 10 miles. Should be good.

Traditionally 100 miles was a good marker for a sufficient break-in of a new engine.

Now with the new high tech Honda 4-strokes the break-in period consists of running the snot out of them for at least 20 minutes straight.

Yours being an old tech bike like all of mine, I fell back to the 100 mile marker. I assume it would work for the new rings as well, others may be able to offer better info.
