Best Way To Wash Equipment-Bonehead Question, I know...

Recommended Posts

Okay, I know how to use a washing machine for the clothing and not to put them in the dryer, but how do you guys/gals wash the pads? Pressure washer along with the bike? What about the boots?

Pads? You mean the hip pads that velco in/out of most MX pants? I pull those of before I put all my stuff in the washer. They don't really get dirty enought to worry about washing them, IMO. As for the boots, I rarely feel the need to wash them, but yes, a pressure washer to the boots every now and them is OK. IF they get wet on the inside, stuff them with crumpled up newspaper to absorb the moisture.

...What about the boots?

I've got a great way to clean your boots. Hose them off if there's lots of mud. Let dry and then use foaming aerosol tire cleaner- the type that you spray on and let dry for a shine. I spray them and let them sit a few minutes but then I wipe them down with a damp towel. They look great, it conditions the leather, and lubes the buckles. Kind of sound like "Hints from Heloise"! 😢
