Oil height question

Recommended Posts

I have an 02 YZ426F. I recently changed the fork oil and put in 5w and I like the results. I am messing wiht oil height and compression settings to get the right balance I want. I have it soaking up the chop very well and feels great in the whoops. To help with bottoming resistance, I am run a higher than stock oil height. I started at stock and added 6cc. Good results, but still some hard bottoming. So, I have had add 6cc more. I am sure there is an upper limit to how much you can add. I am not planning to add anymore but does anyone know if 12cc beyond the stock oil height could be considered to much? I don't wnat to blow a seal.

If you have a owners manul it should say stock and max oil levels. Also you could call to a shop or even a suspension shop and ask.

Stock oil height is 120mm on your bike. Hardly any tuner even runs more than 100mm on yamaha's. 90mm seems to be the magical number for yz forks. Oh and 80-150 is the adjustable range.
