correct way to align front wheel

Recommended Posts

What is the best way to align the front wheel so the front brake won't drag?

yup! I just changed the front tire. I remember an article in MXA a few years ago that gave a process for doing this right but I can't find it.

Tighten the axle but keep the pinch bolts loose ( actually you will need to tighten down the far side in order to torque the nut on the axle, then loosen the pinch bolts back up again). Stick a small wedge or screw driver blade into the seam of the fork where the pinch bolts are. The idea is to keep the forks from binding up on the axle. Sit on the bike, hold the front brake, and stroke the forks up and down about 6 times. Jump off with out moving the front end around too much and then torque down the pinch bolts to spec. Make sure you remove the wedges or screw drivers first. 😢
