In this order:

Drain oil, plug out, 1 week.

Very very close examination to see exactly how far the crack goes. Mark it with a Xfine line Sharpie.

Then, take it to have a professional weld it.

Or groove it out with a Dremel using a carbide cone tip, heavy application of Berrymans B12 carb cleaner to clean the oil out, and JB Weld it. Dont forget to sacrifice some chickens if you choose this route! If youre lucky, it will work. Sand out the repair and cross your fingers.

Or replace the cracked parts.

Stop crashing!

What did you do to mess it up that much?

Also on a slightly related note, is there some kind of filler that can fix this sort of stuff, I realise its a bit rugged but if it works it would beat having to pull the motor out and disassemble the whole thing.

JB Weld is a 2 part epoxy here in the States, pretty tough stuff and part of any good shadetree mechanic's tool kit!

A crack repair with JB Weld is only a temporary fix.

I haven't seen one yet that didn't leak some oil.

If you are going to have it welded properly don't try to patch it with JB Weld.

The JB Weld makes the welders job much more difficult. It's very hard to clean off

and the tiniest bit will play hell with the weld bead.

A proper weld repair will involve taking it down to a bare clean case.

While it's apart is the perfect opportunity to do some performance work. 😢

Oh yes and while you are at it, go out and buy a bash plate please. 😢

What kind of bike? If it's a XR80 or 100, I'm sure someone has one lying around. I do, but I can't remember which sides.
