XR 80 head on XR 100 Questions

Recommended Posts

I've just bought an XR 80 head for my XR 100 engine.

I want to know if I should use an XR 80 or an XR 100 camshaft with my engine. I have both but I will have to buy a new one...

Do I use the XR 100 valves on the xr 80 head?

XR80 and XR100 have the same cam (although the factory manual does describe them as different but Aussie part numbers are the same) same valves. The timing chain sprocket on the bottom of the motor is different so you need to match the cam sprocket. I cant remember exactly but I think its a XR100 bottom has to run XR100 cam sprocket on the XR80 head. You get a high comp head with smaller fins that actually flows very well. Its a OK mod.
