Shorter clutch leaver?

Recommended Posts

Installed some nice Enduro Engineering bar guards on a new CBR high bend/DRZ rises. Job was fun and went off without a hitch. Except the clutch leaver vibrates against the guard. I am tempted to cut off the last couple inches-hovever I am wondering if a shorter leaver is manufactured?

probably is a shorter lever out there, but i wasted an hour

trying to find one at the local cyclegear.

then i just hacksawed the ball end off the lever leaving

about 2mm of the ball, then filed the rough edges.

left some ball so fingers dont slip off.

Cutting the original is a less expensive fix. The lever is aluminum and easy to cut. Just make sure you round off the end with a file after you make the cut.

I have done this to all my clutch and brake levers as I like them much shorter, not too mention it lowers the risk of bending when you dump the bike.

as long as you are replacing the lever, why not get a perch without the dumb mirror mount while you're there?

I went to cyclegear and got 2 full clutch setups for under $30 one for my DRZ (no pics) and one for my TLR (PICS 😢) So here is an example of the black shorty lever. 😢 😢

I know this sounds simple but can't you just moved the whole perch in some and give it more room? 😢

you definitely can and should, until you still need

more room and cant slide over any more... and end

up cutting off the ball 😢
